Hitachi
Ltd. will open outsourcing offices
in India to provide software development
and systems maintenance services
for corporate clients, company sources
said.
The major manufacturer of electrical
machinery will tie up with Satyam,
an IT business based in the south
central Indian city of Secunderabad,
and Intelligroup, an Indian-owned
US company.
It will open offices in Bangalore
and Hyderabad, where the Indian
partners operate, with a combined
staff of 200, hoping to expand to
1,000 employees in two years.
The Indian bases will mainly target
Japanese companies operating in
the US and Europe. In addition to
developing software, they will send
engineers to clients to provide
systems maintenance and other services.
Hitachi aims to expand its outsourcing
operations as a strategic step for
its overseas business. The company
hopes to boost revenue from foreign
operations to 40 per cent of its
information and communications business
by 2007.
