This
time it is South Africa that recognizes
availability top class talent in
India for high tech and service
industries.
According to media reports, a high-level
South African delegation will be
on a four-day visit to India from
November 12 to recruit skilled personnel
for various sectors of the government
service.
IT experts, financial managers,
mathematics and science teachers,
health professionals and engineers
would be among the personnel the
team would be looking for, Minister
of Public Service and Administration
Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi told a
media briefing in Cape Town on Thursday.
Moleketi, who will head the delegation,
said the initiative was aimed at
obtaining Indian skilled personnel
to primarily pass on know-how to
South Africans.
"The move to recruit skilled
staff from India is part of a broader
human resource development intervention
to boost skills levels in the public
service," said Moleketi.
"A second phase of this strategy
will see a more comprehensive recruitment
of technical skills from India,"
she said.
"The emphasis for the short-term
importing of skills will be on mentorship
so that skills transfers can take
place while management capacity
is built up. Financial and other
technical skills are among the specific
skills desired to boost capacity
in local government."
"The Department of Communications
has also provided a list of specific
Information and Communication Technology
skills which are required in the
hardware and software fields, an
area where India is one of the world
leaders," the Minister added.
